ƵWeather Program now available online
July 7, 2023
The television program “ƵWeather” on KUAC’s UATV channel 9.4 ended July 1, 2023, after 45 years of continuous broadcast.
ƵPublic Media and the National Weather Service produce the program in Anchorage. ƵPublic Media was unable to secure funding to support production, and the National Weather Service has not found partners to continue the program in its previous format.
For decades, ƵPublic Media assembled and distributed “ƵWeather” to stations throughout Alaska, including KUAC TV, a service of the University of ƵFairbanks.
NWS will continue to produce graphics and record a modified web-based version of the program, which will be posted on the NWS ƵYouTube channel. A web-based forecast included in the TV broadcast will continue to be available via multiple sources.
For those without high-speed internet access, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s weather radio service will remain available. Statewide public and marine forecasts are available over the phone through the and at 1-855-937-4977.
