ÐßÐßÊÓÆµSea Grant Announces Two Leadership Positions

ÐßÐßÊÓÆµSea Grant welcomes Sean Kelly as its new climate adaptation specialist. Based at the downtown Anchorage office, Kelly will add capacity to ÐßÐßÊÓÆµSea Grant’s coastal community resilience efforts. Initial projects include identifying training program needs and opportunities for a climate ready workforce to support energy transitions in coastal communities, and collaborating with the ÐßÐßÊÓÆµOcean Observing System to identify, design and curate coastal data extension products and tools for coastal communities in Western Alaska.

ÐßÐßÊÓÆµSea Grant also welcomes John Williams as its new , based in Cordova, Alaska. He will coordinate statewide commercial fishing training and events as well as provide extension, education and applied research in support of regional needs. Williams holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in wildlife and fisheries sciences from Texas A&M University and has been a commercial fisherman for over a decade. Williams served as the ÐßÐßÊÓÆµSea Grant Marine Advisory Program agent in Cordova in 2019, and knows firsthand the importance of this new fisheries workforce specialist position.
